Our doctrinal foundation

Jesus is at the center of everything we believe.

These beliefs are rooted in Holy Scripture and guide our life together as a Spirit-filled Christian community. The Bible remains our final standard for faith, doctrine, conduct, and life.

01

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to mankind. It is the inspired and only infallible, authoritative, complete Word of God. As such, it should be viewed as the “owner’s manual” for life (2 Timothy 3:16). Accordingly, the Holy Scriptures are the final standard by which matters of Christian faith, doctrine, conduct, and life are evaluated.

02

The One True God

We believe in one true God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man; that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, was bodily raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will personally return.

04

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit and that believers should seek to live Spirit-filled and Spirit-led lives. We believe the gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit described in Scripture remain available to the Church according to the sovereign working of the Holy Spirit. We believe speaking in tongues is a biblical gift of the Holy Spirit but do not require speaking in tongues as the initial or necessary evidence that a believer has received or been filled with the Holy Spirit.

05

Humanity and Sin

We believe humanity was created in the image of God but became separated from God through sin and is in need of redemption through Jesus Christ.

06

Salvation and Relationship with God

We believe salvation is the gift of God received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Through repentance and faith in Christ, a person receives forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and new life through the Holy Spirit.

07

Divine Healing

We believe God is able to heal and that Scripture encourages believers to pray in faith for the sick. We recognize that healing occurs according to God’s sovereignty, wisdom, and purposes and that seeking medical care is not inconsistent with faith in God.

08

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, consisting of all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. The local church exists for worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, fellowship, prayer, evangelism, missions, service, and the equipping of believers for the work of ministry.

09

Baptism and Communion

We believe in water baptism as an expression of faith in and identification with Jesus Christ and in the observance of Communion in remembrance of Christ’s sacrificial death and redemptive work.

10

Christian Life and Mission

We believe followers of Jesus are called to love God and others, pursue holiness and Christlike character, serve others, share the Gospel, make disciples, and participate in God’s mission locally and throughout the world.

11

Marriage and the Family

We believe marriage is a covenant ordained by God joining one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union as delineated in Scripture. Christian marriage calls husband and wife to faithfulness, love, mutual care, and lifelong covenant commitment. We believe marriage is a profound spiritual institution that reflects the relationship of Jesus Christ and the Church and that the family is to be nurtured according to biblical principles.

12

Gender and Sexuality

We believe God created humanity in His image as male and female and that being male or female is a good part of God’s created design. Every person, as an image-bearer of God, possesses dignity and should be treated with respect and Christian love. We believe sexual conduct and relationships are to be governed by Scripture and that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. These beliefs guide our doctrine, teaching, ministry practices, employment and volunteer expectations, use of facilities and property, ceremonies, and other ecclesiastical activities.

13

Sanctity of Human Life

We believe human beings are created in the image of God and therefore possess God-given dignity and value. We believe human life begins at conception and that each person is uniquely formed by God and worthy of protection, compassion, and respect.

14

Resurrection and Eternal Destiny

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead and in the eternal consequences of each person’s response to Jesus Christ.

15

Return of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ will personally return and ultimately establish the fullness of His Kingdom.

One faith. One family.

We hold truth with conviction and extend the love of Christ to every person.
